One of the most beautiful hiking trails in South Tyrol are the kilometre-long Waalwege. Centuries ago, these paths and narrow canals were created to guarantee the South Tyroleans the irrigation of their fields and orchards. Even today dozens of them still run through South Tyrol. Accessible at all times of the year and mostly without significant ascents, they offer breathtaking views and moments.

The area around the Hotel Castel is rich in cultural highlights that you should not miss. Among the most remarkable sights are the impressive gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle and the Bletterbach Gorge, also known as the Grand Canyon of South Tyrol.
The selection of museums in the immediate vicinity is also impressive: The Messner Mountain Museums, the Ötzi Museum and the Andreas Hofer Museum are definitely worth a visit.
If you are interested in viticulture and cuisine, you can visit the numerous wineries - and stop there for lunch. Wagyu breeders, bacon farmers, distilleries and juice producers are other interesting places to visit.
